Conflicts – Can you make matches easier by losing medals?

One of my squad mates says that he has just deliberately lost over 100 attacks in order to lower his medal count to get easier matches in the next conflict. Will this work? The advice on this forum seems to be that it is all about your base: Upgrade your HQ and your attack but not your defences to face a better chance of 100%. I have never seen losing medals on purpose suggested: Is that because it doesn’t work, because no-one has tried it or because it is a lot of effort for only a marginal gain?

It works. I've been using that method for a while now. For bases that never upgrade offense they get a lot of CNFO now, but when developers bases were on low medals and low base score bases would get only developers bases. Base score matters the most. Medals do factor in, but there has to be very few medals for it to work. Less than 10k medals for me.
