Dear Sirs and Ladies of Star Wars Commander,
I am writing you today on behalf of a larger group of concerned SWC players. Please take the time to read through this letter as it will benefit both players and Disney. We ask that you consider some of the issues brought up, as this game has a VERY large dedicated player base whose continued faithfulness could be jeopardized if the game continues in the direction it is currently following.
First, generating new characters in rapid succession is creating frustration among valued players. The game evolves faster than the players are able to acclimate to using them. Thus, it creates serious conflict fatigue to stay relevant; players have to chase each and every event for six long days. Alternating conflict length would also help with fatigue.
Additionally, the older "legacy characters" conflict unlocks (MTV, Shocks, Tie Advanced, A wings, ATRT Walker, HWK-290, Kessen, etc.) have not been available as a primary conflict award in over 6 months. Consistently offering conflicts to unlock new characters is a definite benefit, players love being able to unlock or upgrade troops. However, only offering newly-added units is destroying the individualized stratagem of choosing which player to upgrade.
Completely randomized data fragments used to unlock and upgrade items reduces the overall player dynamic making the game tedious. Game dynamics are a partnership between the player that pays and the developer that is paid. Our players are long time dedicated customers and, as such, are petitioning for more choices in what we are paying for. It is a suggested recommendation that when we purchase gems and use them to buy data fragments that what we have a choice of fragments as opposed to the current random fragments. If I go to Disney world and pay for a ticket, I do not get to the door and to hear "oops your ticket is only good at universal studios today." I want to go where I paid to go. Otherwise, I will just start going to Universal Studios, or in this case I'll just open another app and play that game. Furthermore, players would like the ability spend alloy and credits to get data fragments. High level players have credits and alloy that is no longer useable. This is an easy remedy. These suggestions should be assimilated because it's in best interest of your game's future.
Second, the "Could Not Find Opponent" error pertaining to matchmaking issues is frustrating the players and causing them to lose interest in the game. When they log in they want to play; when they can't play, they play something else. This is destroying the team dynamic of the game. There are instances where players are getting up to 100 CNFOs consecutively before being matched. This is totally unacceptable. Many that have been playing since SWC started have quit as a result. Who can blame them? They can't play! If CNFO errors continue, Disney will end up with a fantastic game with zero customers. It is imperative that these CNFO errors be repaired as expeditiously as possible.
Another problem that has persisted is the lag time when connecting to and during the chat. It increases with the duration of presence in the squad, which eventually leads to freezes that can last minutes before being able to access the chat. This problem, along with differences in access time to requests and messages data, creates tension among squad members due to requests being missed or incorrectly filled. At the time, the only available action is for the player to leave the squad and come back, thus resetting all data regarding participation (shared troops and reputation). This is hard on leaders or members in war who are unable to use this method to improve access time and have to silently endure the burden of chat lag for the entire duration of war.
Also, we would ask that we have a game liaison to contact and remedy difficulties. This would stop the flood of complaints, threats, and problems vented upon you by frustrated players. A representative from each faction would deal with the liaison directly. This would enable you to concentrate on the game, as opposed to stemming the tide of emails! This can be done either by email or in the forums.
We sincerely hope that the dedicated staff at SWC take these issues to heart. It is a great game and all should endeavor to keep it that way. As a dedicated SWC player myself, I implore you to remedy these issues because it is right for the game, it is right for the players, and it is right for your company.
