READ US PLEASE

Dear Sirs and Ladies of Star Wars Commander,

I am writing you today on behalf of a larger group of concerned SWC players. Please take the time to read through this letter as it will benefit both players and Disney. We ask that you consider some of the issues brought up, as this game has a VERY large dedicated player base whose continued faithfulness could be jeopardized if the game continues in the direction it is currently following.

First, generating new characters in rapid succession is creating frustration among valued players. The game evolves faster than the players are able to acclimate to using them. Thus, it creates serious conflict fatigue to stay relevant; players have to chase each and every event for six long days. Alternating conflict length would also help with fatigue.

Additionally, the older "legacy characters" conflict unlocks (MTV, Shocks, Tie Advanced, A wings, ATRT Walker, HWK-290, Kessen, etc.) have not been available as a primary conflict award in over 6 months. Consistently offering conflicts to unlock new characters is a definite benefit, players love being able to unlock or upgrade troops. However, only offering newly-added units is destroying the individualized stratagem of choosing which player to upgrade.

Completely randomized data fragments used to unlock and upgrade items reduces the overall player dynamic making the game tedious. Game dynamics are a partnership between the player that pays and the developer that is paid. Our players are long time dedicated customers and, as such, are petitioning for more choices in what we are paying for. It is a suggested recommendation that when we purchase gems and use them to buy data fragments that what we have a choice of fragments as opposed to the current random fragments. If I go to Disney world and pay for a ticket, I do not get to the door and to hear "oops your ticket is only good at universal studios today." I want to go where I paid to go. Otherwise, I will just start going to Universal Studios, or in this case I'll just open another app and play that game. Furthermore, players would like the ability spend alloy and credits to get data fragments. High level players have credits and alloy that is no longer useable. This is an easy remedy. These suggestions should be assimilated because it's in best interest of your game's future.

Second, the "Could Not Find Opponent" error pertaining to matchmaking issues is frustrating the players and causing them to lose interest in the game. When they log in they want to play; when they can't play, they play something else. This is destroying the team dynamic of the game. There are instances where players are getting up to 100 CNFOs consecutively before being matched. This is totally unacceptable. Many that have been playing since SWC started have quit as a result. Who can blame them? They can't play! If CNFO errors continue, Disney will end up with a fantastic game with zero customers. It is imperative that these CNFO errors be repaired as expeditiously as possible.

Another problem that has persisted is the lag time when connecting to and during the chat. It increases with the duration of presence in the squad, which eventually leads to freezes that can last minutes before being able to access the chat. This problem, along with differences in access time to requests and messages data, creates tension among squad members due to requests being missed or incorrectly filled. At the time, the only available action is for the player to leave the squad and come back, thus resetting all data regarding participation (shared troops and reputation). This is hard on leaders or members in war who are unable to use this method to improve access time and have to silently endure the burden of chat lag for the entire duration of war.

Also, we would ask that we have a game liaison to contact and remedy difficulties. This would stop the flood of complaints, threats, and problems vented upon you by frustrated players. A representative from each faction would deal with the liaison directly. This would enable you to concentrate on the game, as opposed to stemming the tide of emails! This can be done either by email or in the forums.

We sincerely hope that the dedicated staff at SWC take these issues to heart. It is a great game and all should endeavor to keep it that way. As a dedicated SWC player myself, I implore you to remedy these issues because it is right for the game, it is right for the players, and it is right for your company.

May the Force be with you,

XXXXXX

Second, the "Could Not Find Opponent"

So, was randomized data frags number 1.5? :)

raphaellito wrote:when we purchase gems and use them to buy data fragments that what we have a choice of fragments as opposed to the current random fragments

Not gonna happen. In game designer's vision random reward will draw more cash out of your pocket than ability to buy exactly what you want. Random rewards are not popular but it's like slot machine and there will always be people who get addicted.

raphaellito wrote:Furthermore, players would like the ability spend alloy and credits to get data fragments. High level players have credits and alloy that is no longer useable. This is an easy remedy.

Give that loot to those who need it! If all these millions are spent on frags it will hit economy and lvl9s and baby 10s will cry in grief because all the whales will be always empty and not worth the risk and grinding will become much much harder.

Your representative would represent only 1% of player base or even less. Even if all who acknowledge him as their representative will stop sending emails to the support themselves (which I doubt), it will not decrease amount of incoming emails beyond statistical error. Plus, how do you see two (or even twenty) representatives handling requests from 5k people of your group? This sounds like a tedious full time job. You are not gonna pay them, are you?

raphaellito wrote:This would enable you to concentrate on the game, as opposed to stemming the tide of emails!
Are you really so naive to think that people answering your emails and game developers are the same people? It doesn't work like this. Game/tech support is completely separate department with its own staff and tasks.

I'm very surprised that there were not anyone among 5k+ ppl behind this doc there were no one who would pointed out these obviously weak points. You have the strongest back up in SWC petition history (even though it's still a drop in the sea compared to total game audience) but you also need very strong position and solid text, otherwise the Mouse will use your petition to fill Pluto's tray and forget about it the very next minute.

I'm totally agree with how you pointed out CNFO and chat lag issues, they are really killing the game (especially the former). I would love Disney to hear what you say about it but like I said, you need perfectly solid text to be taken seriously.
Conflict fatigue is also a thing these days but it may be Disney's conscious strategy. They don't want everyone to unlock everything, they want people to constantly chase the carrot and spend cash in attempt to get some boost.

My thoughts on trading resources for frags and the effect it would have on the economy:

You're right Sigma about how trading resources for frags would reduce the available amount of loot for the taking. To offset this....get ready to rage...defenses could be buffed to "turret gate" levels to increase the available amount of loot for players who have progressed enough or have the skill to take it.

One thing's for sure, resource generation and capacity would have to be buffed as well because not everyone is going to be thrilled with faceplanting 30 seconds into a looting attempt. For those who don't want to risk losing medals, are tired of the grind or just need to sleep, they can simply log off and let their resource generators do the work. Players will get attacked and will lose loot, but it would be far less discouraging to log back in and see much of that stolen loot replaced during protection. Players will still remain active though because looting will still remain the fastest method of accumulating resources.

Also, resource generating squad perks would become even more valuable, potentially increasing the amount of squads queing for wars in order to level those perks. More wars = more loot.

So how would the devs generate more revenue? Simple. Sell protection without a cooldown. As silly as it sounds, players spend a ton of $$$ upgrading things they don't even use while playing the game outside of HDs: defensive structures. These structures are primarly meant to prevent looting while they do things outside of SWC. That's life. How many of you would pay $10 a month to not get attacked while your base generates enough loot for a few upgrades? How about $10 for a heat sink upgrade of your choice? People are more inclinded to spend small sums of dough many times vs. large sums a few times. Moving away from the direct approach of selling crystal packs at a higher price and moving to selling freedom from SWC at a lower price could be a better revenue stream.

Im sorry, these numbers are very misleading. You say 176 squad leaders ( although I see only 92, why list AT all if you are not going to list THEM all.) and officers of these squads. That does not represent 5230 people, but simply the leaders and officers. The number represented will be shown by who actually responds to your petition. Do not start this thing out wrong by fudging numbers, or you credibility will be shot to hell before you even get good and started. If you are able to garner support of the couple of million people who play this game, then power to you. Do not try to sound bigger than you are. You are what, 300 maybe 350 players out of what, about maybe 2 million? (an estimate going by the count on the planetary command) Start small, do it right. Be patient. Rome was not built in a day (maybe a day and a half). Aside from this, some of your issues are spot on.

I come with all respect when i say, that is a horrible, horrible idea. One of the main points of this game, being a tower DEFENSE game, is to learn from attacks, adapt and build to success. If you can buy your way out, what is the bloody point? Why even frickin play? On the "heat sink for sale" idea. Equally horrible, as it puts the wallet warriors above the dedicated players who actually enjoy the challenge of EARNING those buffs. Why should someone willing to take the easy road be favored over players who came correct, did battle after battle, and fought his / her way to success? You dont want a game, you want a collection contest.

CNFO, chat lag and game crashes are problems that NEED to be addressed. Lumping these critical problems in this list after inconveniences like randomized frags, new units, etc. greatly diminishes their importance and severity.

BarBar, players can just buy a ton of crates & crystals and essentially max their bases right now. Also remember, the game isn't about all of us having fun. It's about Disney making money while some of us have fun. If someone wants to be wallet warrior and max their base, so what. Let them spend a ton of money. Their collecting and protection would fund new content development for us active players to enjoy. It sure beats having players flat out quit the game because they are forced to play the game a certain way.
